As of October 2, 2025, the hydrogen used in the public transport buses of the Ebersberg district is 100% RFNBO green!
On October 2, 2025, the first trailer carrying 1,200 kilograms of RFNBO green hydrogen produced at the Hy2B Wasserstoff GmbH electrolyzer in Pfeffenhausen was delivered to Schlacht near Glonn and connected to the hydrogen filling station of the Ettenhuber Group | Coach Tours & Public Transport.
The first of many subsequent refuelings of a fuel cell bus operated by Busbetrieb Josef Ettenhuber GmbH with 100% RFNBO green hydrogen saved more than 300 kg of CO₂ over the following 400 kilometers.
The total 1,100 kilograms of usable RFNBO hydrogen in the trailer will—according to RFNBO calculation, which includes all emissions from hydrogen production, transport from Pfeffenhausen to Schlacht, and the grid electricity used at the Schlacht hydrogen station—save more than 11,200 kg of CO₂ over the next 14,700 bus kilometers.
Since then, the buses of the Munich Transport Association (MVV) in the Ebersberg district have not only been running on RFNBO green hydrogen, but also saving more emissions than any HVO diesel or grid-charged electric bus.
Another milestone for Hy2B Wasserstoff GmbH, its shareholders, and partners!
Special thanks to BayWa AG for the logistical support, and to the team of Busbetrieb Josef Ettenhuber GmbH and the Ebersberg district for their trust.
